Commission Kickers

Set up incentives by creating attainment and goal kickers for your reps. Attainments are based on contract sales or invoiced sales. Goal Kickers are based on Contract Sales by month. Users can get multiple kickers in a single period. Once a rep sells enough to reach that goal, they will get the bonus amount the last day of the commission period where they achieved the goal. You can view the Sales Rep Attainment Report to track your reps’ progress.

  • First, you should review your Commission Kicker Attainment Basis system configuration.

    • You can choose either contract sales or invoices sales for this configuration.  Contract sales will include any amount tied to a contract.  Invoiced sales will include invoiced line items.  If you choose invoiced sales, make sure to set your invoice period in the Commission Attainment Invoice Period configuration.

  • Next, you can create your incentives under Settings > Users > Commission Kickers. To access this page, you need the User Permission 'Commission Kickers'.

  • To create a new Attainment Kicker, click the +Add Attainment Kicker in the upper right corner of the Attainment Kicker tab.

    • In the popup, there are a few required and optional fields to fill out.

    • You must select which year the kicker will be used for, and decide if it is a monthly or yearly kicker.

      Tip

      Monthly and yearly kickers can be used in combination with each other.

      • A yearly kicker means the rep will need to meet the threshold over the course of the year selected in order to receive the kicker. They will only get this particular kicker once in that year.

      • If a monthly kicker is used, you will also need to select which months of the year the kicker will be eligible in. In this case, the rep will receive the kicker for any months specified as long as they meet the threshold within that month.

    • You have the option to select specific users that can receive the kicker. When set, only those users can receive the kicker even if other users achieve the threshold. If left blank, all users are eligible to receive the kicker.

    • Next, you need to specify the threshold amount. This is the amount that the rep needs to achieve to receive the kicker. The threshold will either look at the contract sales or invoices sales, depending on how you set your Commission Kicker Attainment Basis system configuration.

    • Finally, you will need to enter the kicker amount as either a dollar amount or a percentage. This is the extra amount in commissions that the rep will receive if they meet the threshold.

      • The Kicker $ field is a flat rate option. Whatever value you enter here is what the rep will receive as their kicker.

      • The Kicker % field will give the rep different amounts depending on their commissionable sales in the period. For example, if the commissionable sales were $15,000 in the period, and the Kicker % was set to 4%, then the kicker would be $600, or 4% of $15,000.

  • You can have multiple attainments for the same year. But you need to choose the attainment method in your configuration. If you choose Invoice sales as your basis, make sure to also choose the Invoice period.

  • You can also set up goals by month based on contract goals. Contract sales are based on overall contract value and nothing to do with when items are delivered.

  • Click on Add Goal Kicker and assign Year, Threshold, and the Kicker % or $. The year determines what commission periods to apply the kicker. The threshold is the % of the goal the rep needs to reach since reps will likely have different values. The kicker can either be a flat amount or a percentage of the goal.

  • You can have multiple Goal kickers. You could set up one kicker for hitting the Goal and then another kicker for every 10% over the Goal they hit by creating a kicker of 100%, 110%, 120%, etc.
